Italian Minister of Science opens industrial exhibition at CERN

On 30 November 1993 His Excellency Professor Umberto Colombo, Italy's Minister for Universities and Research opened the sixth "Italy at CERN" exhibition. Russian Agreement with CERN

On the occasion of the bi-annual meeting of the CERN1 -Russia Committee, under the co-chairmanship of Minister Boris Saltykov and CERN's Director-General, Professor Carlo Rubbia, a new Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement was formally signed on 30th October in the laboratories of the Institute for High Energy Physics (I.H.E.P.) in Protvino, near Moscow.

Fusion Exhibition at CERN

The fifth in a series of exhibitions at CERN1 presenting European research activities will be open to the public from 23 July to 11 September. CERN has invited the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom) to present an overview of present research and technical developments in the field of thermonuclear fusion in Europe and elsewhere in the world. Fusion is one of the most exciting fields of scientific research, being the attempt to produce an unlimited and environmentally friendly source of energy by fusing atoms together.

The CERN Council, where the representatives of the 17 Member States of the Organization* decide on CERN's scientific programmes and financial resources, held its 97th Session on June 25 under the chairmanship of Sir William Mitchell (United Kingdom).

France at CERN

From 30 March to 2 April, forty-five French companies will be taking part in an industrial exhibition where they will be featuring their products in areas of direct interest to the researchers, engineers and technicians at CERN1, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. The exhibition, organized by France's Ministry for Research and Space Affairs and the French Committee for Foreign Trade Exhibitions, will be visited on 1 April by Jean-Michel Yolin, the Ministry's Director for Innovation, Technology and Regional Development.

CERN and the UN Embargo against Serbia and Montenegro

CERN1 , the European Laboratory of Particle Physics, in reply to questions raised by the media would like to clarify its position with regard to the resolution No 757 of the U.N. Security Council of 30 May 1992 imposing an embargo on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro). This position was adopted immediately after the embargo was announced.
